Watch up guys? It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a watch, and I’ve decided to do so again because a particular watch has caught my attention. Yes, it’s the Rado HyperChrome Captain Cook – a simple yet sophisticated casual watch that really works well for guys who change up their style here and there.

What  I mean by that is: when you’re on the go from work to the gym and so on, you’ll probably want something very versatile, and comfortable. Comfort is something that is sometimes overlooked with watches because the aesthetics and functions usually captivate the consumer first. But this piece had the combination of everything.

For myself, leather straps have always been the more comfortable option (although some people prefer metal bands since you can change them out for leather bands if you prefer), because I have hairier wrists. Not that this is a big deal, but it makes a difference for me with various activities. The stitched leather strap on this fella feels good and looks good (being a little thicker), giving it a heavier and sturdier overall feel.

This particular watch initially caught my eye due it’s vintage diver style. I’m a sucker for classic and simple looking watches, and this fit the bill, along with an edge that made it rather exciting. It takes its inspiration from an older 60’s Captain Cook model, but adds a clean and modern taste to it, making it feel like you’re wearing a new-vintage watch. It also happens to be a limited edition piece among a total of 1,962 watches, which adds an exciting exclusivity to the timepiece.

Aesthetics wise, the details of the watch are anything but lacklustre. The combination of the coin-edged rotating dial and the classic Rado face create a watch that’s really worth your time. I enjoyed checking time often simply to appreciate the watch itself. Beyond that, taking it from work to the gym made it something that I could keep on at all times (a valuable perk for a watch). This goes without saying that Rado added a scratch resistant ceramic face insert, which adds to the overall durability of the watch, for years to come.

Overall – I was genuinely charmed by the feel and look of the watch. Although it’s a watch that fits just below the $2000 range, it feels like it could belong on a higher scale because of it’s complete vintage and exuberant feel. It’s a piece that you can wear through the week and carry forward to the weekend, without much effort.
