Essential Pieces to Wear This Spring/Summer

Dressing for the summer can be tricky. The rest of the year allows for layers and textures. But how do you fare in the season when the temperature is at its highest? Fear not, however, because you can beat the heat while decked out in these five outfits.

Floral button-ups

Many men are still wary of approaching florals, but there’s no need for hesitation. Summer is, after all, the perfect season to make a statement. You only need to find the perfect floral shirt. And believe us when we say that there’s a shirt out there for everyone. Make sure that the rest of the outfit doesn’t compete with the button-up for attention. Your best bet is to pair it off with shorts in a neutral color and a stylish pair of tan sandals.

White Oxford shirt

For an outfit that’s perfect for the next summer barbecue, you really can’t go wrong with a white oxford shirt paired with dark summer shorts. The look lends you a clean and crisp air, smart but casual. Cap the look off with no-see socks and a pair of loafers. If it’s daytime and your outdoors, pop on those sunglasses to further add to that effortless look you have going on.

Rompers

Don’t knock it until you try it. This article of clothing received a lot of attention last year, and a fair amount of backlash. But think about it. Aren’t they basically just shorter jumpsuits? They’re the breeziest and most comfortable thing men’s fashion has seen in a while. And it’s one worth your consideration. Rompers in darker colors would be easier to pull off. An olive green one that would call to mind its utilitarian background is not bad either. It will lend your outfit a manlier look.

Lightweight pullovers

Layering is still doable in summer, but make sure to get something light enough that won’t make you sweat. Linen, cotton, or a blend of the two would be perfect. A sweater paired with a laidback pair of summer pants and canvas sneakers should be your go-to outfit for those nighttime strolls along the beach.

Denim shorts

Ah, who doesn’t have a pair of these waiting to be let out for the summer? It’s a seasonal classic for a reason. A dark wash pair of these will go great with just about everything, so don’t hesitate to partner it with a printed top. The loudness of the top will be toned down by the shorts, so go crazy with your polka dots, florals, and geometric patterns. All you need now is a pair of white sneakers, and you’ll look perfectly laid-back, just like how summer is meant to be.

The season may limit what pieces you can wear, but it’s also a time for you to experiment with articles that you can’t wear otherwise. With the high temperature, comfort should indeed be high up on your list of things to consider. But always keep in mind that you don’t have to sacrifice style in order to be comfortable.
