Let’s Talk Sleep and Adulting | The Endy Mattress Review

You know you’re an adult when you start getting excited over getting a new mattress. I mean, it’s easy to overlook, but sleep is one of those things that is absolutely essential for us to function day to day. I know it can be hard to get your 7-8 hours of sleep every night – especially when you’re working full-time and have other things you want to attend to, but it really helps having a good mattress you can pass out on.

For the longest time, I was okay with passing out on a couch, or whatever surface was comfortable enough to sleep on – low standards, I know. When I moved into my current apartment around two years ago, I realized it was time that I picked out something better – for the sake of being well-rested and all. My parents were big advocates on me taking care of myself, so they made a few recommendations, but I was like ‘eh, an IKEA mattress will do’, – and I wasn’t ready to spend the money on ‘grown up’ mattress yet. Don’t get me wrong, it was great for a while, until I decided to try out an even better mattress, where I began to really understand the differences.

Supporting Canadian Brands

Around the city, I saw ads for Endy and Casper over the past year or two, and they caught my attention. They were reasonably priced and they claimed to provide a better night’s sleep – and they could be delivered right to your doorstep in a package that’s about the same size as a hockey bag!

When I went to a PR agency’s seasonal preview, I came across Casper initially which is an American brand; and I enjoyed how the mattress felt. But before making the decision, I also wanted to give Endy a shot – because they are Canadian – and I had heard great things about their mattresses from friends and other bloggers. I liked the price point of Endy, since all their mattresses were under $1000 – as well as the fact that they had one model that was designed ‘for all Canadians’. It made my choice rather easy, since I’m very indecisive at times. It’s notable to mention that Casper had a little more bounce in their mattress, while Endy has more of a memory foam feel – which I really preferred.

About to make the switch from my Ikea to Endy!

Once my Endy mattress arrived, it was packaged in a small enough box (considering my bed frame is a King size, I was amazed at how it fit in) and it was really easy to unbox. There were no handles on the box, but I made do lifting it around a bit – and my apartment isn’t very large, so it wasn’t too bad.

ENDY vs IKEA: An Overview and Comparison

The Endy mattress itself is made of three layers of foam – with the top regulating temperature while providing comfort, middle being the transitional piece, and the bottom for posture support. I’m no mattress expert, but at first I thought that it was a tad bit stiff, even though it does sink a bit – but that got better once I realized how well I was sleeping compared to the older IKEA mattress. The IKEA mattress was okay at best, since I would often wake up feeling restless, despite sleeping for 7-8 hours. After upgrading, I began to understand the difference because I was simply feeling better after a good night’s sleep. As cliche as it sounds: a better mattress really does make an impact on your overall rest and how you perform the next day. Even beyond sleeping, which I know is the main reason for the mattress, I started to find myself not wanting to leave bed because of how comfortable it was. Lately I’ve been spending much more time lounging around in bed, and have even gone as far as working from my Endy. Silly right?

It’s important to note that every great sleeping experience isn’t complete without pillows. The Endy pillows are just as great as their mattress when it comes to comfort. They’re also very plush, so it’s nice to position them upwards and lean back on them when you’re sitting up. Besides, you’re able to customize them to your needs by removing any excess foam and storing it into a handy pouch, which can also double as a convenient travel pillow.

Verdict

My judgment of a mattress isn’t an expert opinion by any means – since I’m just a regular guy. But I have to say that my Endy mattress has helped me sleep better – and I’ve noticed the difference it has made in my life for the past few months. That being said, those who prefer really soft mattresses or are very peculiar about their mattresses, may not be immediately enthused by the mattress.

If you’ve also thought about improving your sleep, I encourage you to give the Endy mattress a shot – because even in the worst case scenario where you don’t enjoy it, you have a 100 night trial to return it. You can also use my code, ABDULLA50 for an additional $50 off your mattress purchase!
