Picking A Great Natural Grooming Product | Wise Men

When it comes to quality grooming products, where do you start?

There are a lot of brands and products out there, and it can be daunting trying to find the right product for yourself. Most people stick to what they’ve used for a while, since it works for them, but there are a lot of shelf products that contain ingredients that may be damaging your hair – and more. I’m not just talking about hair gels and creams, but shampoos and conditioners as well.

I’m the regular guy who used most of the typical off-the-shelf products that looked cool and were reasonably priced. I would even use my mom’s shampoo when I could, since I really didn’t think it would make much of a difference other than clean my hair. As I’ve become more conscious of what some chemicals can do to your hair in the long run (such as parabens, which are also hazardous to the environment), I’ve narrowed down my selection to a few choices that are natural ingredient focused and reasonably priced.

In the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to try various products and experience how they reacted with my curly hair, and it wasn’t easy trying to find the right fit. Many products simply don’t work for everyone and that’s okay – but there are options that are fairly versatile. Today, I want to focus on a few products that have worked really well for me by Wise – one of the few brands that have great looking products as well as a strong focus on natural, simple ingredients. The funny thing is that my girlfriend even uses my products, which says something about the quality! (I assume she knows what she’s doing)

If you’re wondering what Wise is, they’re a brand I luckily stumbled upon a few months ago. They have a strong mantra about strictly using natural ingredients in their products to “care for yourself, [and to] care for the planet” – and their branding is awesome. The simplicity of their products is what really grabbed my attention, and they don’t disappoint with the quality.

Wise Shampoo

A rather raw smelling shampoo, but it feels great and after some time, I’ve really gotten used to the scent. It’s packaged in a simple bag that’s kind of hard to work with in the shower, but otherwise super cool. Worth checking out if you’re looking for a new quality, shampoo.

Wise Pomade

This pomade is super clean and simple, leaving little to no residue. When I grow out my beard, I usually prefer oils, but this is good for solidifying ends (everybody uses product differently). But I really enjoy putting some in parts of my hair to prevent frizz. It also smells great!

A few other honourable mentions…

Besides Wise, I’ve used a two other products worth mentioning, because they’ve worked well for me. The first is the anti-frizz shampoo by KMS hair – which smells great, and is composed of mostly natural ingredients. It is a salon product however, so it does run up slightly higher in cost.

The other honourable mention goes to Dippity Do Men and their hair cream, which has served me extremely well, considering it’s price. It’s a natural product that smells fantastic and works really well with my hair, because it eliminates frizz and creates a more voluminous look overall.

As always, these recommendations are personal suggestions of mine that work really well for me. Give a few products a try and see what works for you, but I highly recommend you stick to natural products, to care for yourself and the environment!
