I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be a part of the #100PiecesofPerry campaign, which showcases various styles of 100 different gentlemen from around the world. It’s practically a digital runway show focusing on how versatile Perry Ellis pieces are. The 2016 Fall collection introduces an exciting take on basics, which makes them more fun to work with.

With that in mind, my outfit focuses on layering simple pieces to create a functional look. Although I tend to use color, I thought working with one color would be an interesting challenge. The pieces themselves are very functional.

The horizontal stripe quilted zip vest is a great piece to top off any look. It can also be layered under a blazer in colder months for a heavily layered look, without feeling too warm – since it’s rather light. The quilted texture adds a sophisticated detail that works well with any pattern.

Underneath is the textured crew neck sweater. I was surprised at how light this sweater was. The waffle texture makes it more than just a standard crew neck. It’s a great layering piece and can even be worn on its own – due to how comfortable it is.

The look isn’t complete without the slim fit tonal plaid dress pant. The simple and subtle pattern keeps these pants looking finely textured and stylish. They also include a utility pocket that’s useful for storing a few extra things. As a guy with bigger legs, these pants were still comfortable and didn’t restrict movement in any way.

Since fall is around the corner, it’s good to start thinking about transitioning your wardrobe. To keep it simple, you can try working with one or two tones, while focusing on the texture of your pieces. It’s a good way of keeping your look refined and stylish, without much effort.
