Why Walmart.ca Grocery Pickup is Perfect for your Busy Lifestyle

Hey guys!

Let’s jump right to the point. We’re all trying to be better and healthier versions of ourselves, and I firmly believe that we can all do it. It’s just a matter of developing the right habits and sticking to them, like going to the gym 3-5 times a week and having accountability from a friend (I discuss this further in this post). These habits make us feel better, and contribute to making us better people overall.

But living a healthy and more active lifestyle isn’t just about exercise. In fact, in order to look and feel better, you must nurture your body with a proper diet. To many, this is common knowledge, I understand, but it’s definitely easier said than done. As someone who tries to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, on occasion, I find it difficult. My time is too limited after work and it’s simply easier to eat out. This ends up hindering my progress when it comes to health goals. With resolutions being a hot topic early in the new year, finding simple ways to staying healthy sustains the development of our discipline for longer term goals.

So for the sake of that argument, let’s shift our focus to grocery shopping.

We all know that grocery shopping is cost effective and healthier than eating out. But we’re generally too lazy to constantly keep our fridges stocked, and the idea of cooking daily for every meal doesn’t sound feasible because of the time it takes (personal experience).

I needed a solution and I knew that online grocery shopping would help (even though it’s fun to walk through the aisles, it can take too much time). My first thought was that it would be more expensive than heading to the store. Luckily, I was wrong. I came across Walmart.ca’s Grocery PickUp. The company recently partnered with Penguin/UPS Pick-Up to make grocery shopping more convenient for Torontonians by providing pick-up locations in areas where there are fewer Walmart stores. Walmart’s prices are great, but it can be a hassle to get to my local store on a tight schedule. Walmart Grocery PickUp lets you order your groceries online and schedule a pick-up at a Penguin location closest to you.

I got lost browsing through the numerous options and began to create a full cart of things I needed. And it was so simple! It took a few minutes to create an account and set up payment, but I was impressed at the ease of accessibility and close proximity of the pick-up location closest to my condo. It’s also just as easy to order from your phone, using the Walmart mobile app (Android/iOS) if you’re constantly on the go. It goes without saying that the prices were unbelievable (you can also price match if you find anything cheaper), so it’s easy to get carried away – but completely worth it. Walmart guarantees fresh groceries with a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back.

Since the Walmart.ca Grocery PickUp program is still growing, the options for pickup/delivery in Toronto are as follows:

Walmart G.T.A. stores

Penguin Pick-Up locations: The program operates 7 days a week, within the hours that the Penguin/UPS Pick-Up locations are operational. A $3 service fee will be applied and orders are to be a minimum of $50:

Harbourfront: The UPS Store, 264 Queens Quay W

Yonge & Davisville: The UPS Store, 6 Belsize Dr.

Yorkville: The UPS Store, 110 Cumberland St Lower Level

Toronto condo pickup locations: Fee is $10 and Walmart.ca. Orders are a minimum of $50.  Delivery dates are Tuesday and Thursday. Here are the three condo delivery locations:

So next time you find yourself procrastinating over your grocery trip, pull up Walmart.ca or the Walmart app and give Walmart.ca Grocery PickUp a shot. You won’t be disappointed!

Furthermore, I wanted to create a staple recipe that I could use as a quick go-to meal while being short on time (and share it with you guys!). Although I wouldn’t consider myself a legitimate chef, I can get by. Made using a few simple ingredients, I know you can easily re-create this nutrition-packed coconut oil fried rice! It’s healthier than it sounds, I promise! Plus, you can pack some for later in the week if you’re into meal prep!

I eat a lot (sorry not sorry), so the portion sizes are based on what I made:

-2 cups brown rice

-1 green pepper, diced/sliced

-1 broccoli head

-6 garlic cloves, peeled (I love garlic)

-1 onion, diced

-2 tbsp coconut 0il

-1 egg

– shrimp, thawed – (as many as you want, I ended up using crab in this example)

salt and pepper to taste

basil

hot sauce (optional)

Pre-cook rice in a rice cooker, or boil it if that’s your preference. Prepare and combine the green pepper, broccoli, garlic, and onion, and throw them into a sauce pan or wok on high heat with the coconut oil for about 5-7 minutes. Add the rice, then the egg shortly after and mix the contents. You can then add the shrimp and let it cook for the desired amount of time (usually another five minutes). Add salt, pepper, basil, and hot sauce as desired.

Super simple and extremely delicious. Give it a shot. And feel free to perfect it by your own means!
