Making Your Morning Grooming Routine Easier & More Relaxing To Deal With

How high maintenance are you? Of course, no matter if you’re high or low maintenance, it doesn’t particularly matter. How long you spend in front of the mirror tailoring your appearance to the standard you find acceptable is your own business, and that’s no one elses’ consideration to judge. That said, it can sometimes be that if we view ourselves as high or low maintenance, it’s not uncommon for the opposite to be true in areas we aren’t particularly aware of.

Perhaps your hair looks great each day, and you spend time making that so. But, in order to curate that, your skincare is suffering a little. Maybe you feel that it only takes you minutes to get ready to go out, the opposite consideration a fact that your partner will gladly correct you on, half-jokingly.

What matters is not how we come to these measures of self-grooming that work for us, but how we can make this process better, more enjoyable, and perhaps even easier. In this post, we’ll try to help you do exactly that.

Set A Schedule

Set a schedule for your morning routine, and try and do it incrementally, one after the other. This may sound obvious to people who have been taking care of themselves as adults for some time, but we often forget just how much it can take to get ready every day and to do so when we need to attend to our commute or return back to the office after a year of working from home.

This might involve simply waking up at the same time every day, or making sure you attend to your skincare each and every evening. It might mean having set days where you wash your hair, or perhaps days that you give your skin a rest and don’t wear any adornments. Of course, a grooming schedule can also involve cleaning or replacing your pillowcases on certain days to make sure that they don’t contribute to bad skin. Whatever works for you works for us, but to make the practice easier, don’t be afraid to automate it a little. This will also help you avoid having to expel undue amounts of mental energy attending to this.

Use Non-Intrusive Products

It’s good to use products that are clean, that feel sustainable to use and refreshing to apply them, that avoid applying undue odors or chemical irritants. It just feels better and they’re easier to deal with.

Furthermore, moving to more natural products than relying on branded chemical concoctions can also be more relaxing to deal with. For instance, in this case, using worthwhile shaving soap can help you attend to your skin more readily each morning and it may even lessen a breakout of spots. Moving to vegan, cruelty-free products in this way usually helps us achieve that goal, and that can feel like a revelation when you first start focusing on this as a priority.

Lay It Out The Night Before

Laying out your products the night before can help you avoid having to search for them in the morning, or having to find your clothes, or having to worry about getting ready for your commute. You can simply wake up, take a shower, use your morning routine for the better, get dressed, and be ready.

This might involve ironing your trousers the night before, or simply making sure you keep your bathroom in an organized condition. You may find that floor heaters can be a great idea for willingly entering your bathroom on a cold morning, for instance. Laying out everything the night before not only helps you feel more comfortable, but it helps you avoid having to stress out and feel at odds with yourself when you simply want to greet the day.

Consider The Fundamentals

With all the above said, it’s very important to consider the fundamentals when it comes to grooming each morning. Namely, going to bed the night before and waking up in the morning should take place at consistent times, with at least eight hours (or seven if necessary) to help you get the rest you need.

This way, you don’t have to worry about waking up and having to feel totally out of it for thirty minutes, nor will you have to go through that tiresome approach of making yourself look overly presentable even though you don’t feel it. Trust us – it truly makes a difference, and internal health is always the best kind of self-care you can practice.

With this advice, we hope you can make your morning grooming routine easier and more relaxing to deal with, through and through.
