Three Reasons You Look and Feel Older Than You Are

In many ways, age is just a number- it’s all about the way you feel and your outlook on life. However with that being said, none of us want to look or feel way older than our actual age, and if you do then it’s probably a sign that you’re not looking after yourself the way that you should. If you’re looking in the mirror and don’t like what you see, here are a few ways you can put things right.

Consider your diet and exercise regime

Does your skin look dry and wrinkled? Do you have puffy eyes, are you bloated and have your eyes lost their sparkle? All of these things can be a result of poor health choices. Up your fruits and vegetables, cut out the alcohol and limit yourself when it comes to sugar, fried foods and the things you already know aren’t good for you. Hit the gym, or find an activity you love- it could be running, hiking or a sport. If you’ve been out of shape for a while, be sure to start small and build your way up. Any physiotherapy expert will tell you that one of the main reason people come in injured is because they’ve tried to do too much, too soon. It won’t happen overnight, but give it a few months of living more healthily and you’ll look different- and importantly you’ll feel different too.

Update your hair and grooming routine

The way you look and feel needs to be started from the inside out, meaning the right diet and exercise is the best place to start. Once you start noticing a difference, why not update your style too? It can give you a huge confidence boost, highlight your results and generally make you feel good about yourself. Update your haircut, try a different style of facial hair, invest in a couple of skincare products. It doesn’t have to be time consuming, once you’re out of the shower a facial moisturiser takes all of thirty seconds to apply. If you put a little bit of effort in with your appearance it can make you feel so much better.

Think about your mental health

Are you looking bedraggled and drawn because you’re completely run down? Depression and anxiety can both lead to poor sleep habits which will instantly affect the way you look and feel. Even just going through stressful times when you don’t have a mental health condition can be tough. Find time to relax and find hobbies that help you to de-stress. Chat to friends and family who could provide you with advice from another perspective. It can be hard to look or feel your best when you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders!
