Yes – it’s fall already – although it’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s time to freshen up some wardrobe essentials that were definitely overused this summer.
Today I’m focusing on the white sneaker – a wardrobe staple that literally works for any guy and any occasion. For me, it’s a love-hate relationship with white sneakers.
Why? Well…
What I Love? – They’re so crisp when they’re clean and they can dress down any look. Besides the fact that they’re sporty, they’re also super comfortable. Can’t go wrong, right?
What I hate? – They get dirty very easily. Obviously. If you’re not careful and/or aren’t maintaining their cleanliness, you end up with a worn down beige-y looking pair of sneaks. This can be stylish/in at times, but most of the time, it’s a bit of an inconvenience.
And let’s be honest – if you have a pair, then you’ve definitely wore them this summer and you probably have your eyes on the next contender.
To save you some time, I’ve compiled my favourite white sneakers right now, at different price ranges. Whether you’re looking for a pair of fall/winter beaters or a pair you want to baby around because of the price tag, I’ve got you covered.
Nike Flyleather
Nike recently dropped these new lightweight sneakers that are simple and straight to the point. The cool thing about these fellas: “the process [of manufacturing the Nike Flyleather] reduces water used by 90% with an 80% smaller carbon footprint vs. traditional leather manufacturing”, which also makes them a stylish and sustainable option.
Retail ~ $85 USD
Adidas Stan Smith
The popular Adidas Stan Smith sneakers made this list because they’re still a great sneaker. Despite styles coming and going, this pair has managed to stay timeless despite trends. They come in a few colour accents if you’re into colour (you’re probably most familiar with the green accents).
Retail ~ $110 CAD
New Balance 574 Sport
Probably my favourite sneaker right now. Why? They combine minimalism and athleticism to create a super comfortable pair of light sneakers. When I think athleisure, this is my go-to: comfort and style that takes very little effort to pull off.
Retail ~ $129 CAD
Lacoste Spirit Elite
This strong competitor by Lacoste really shines among white sneakers because of its streamlined design and unique qualities. They’ve updated their AW 17 line with soft nappa leathers, as well as removable insocks and heel tabs. You’ll find that they work well with anything you decide to pair them with – I’m really impressed with these!
Retail ~ $180 CAD
Common Projects Achilles Mid
Athough Common Projects sneakers will cost you a pretty penny, they’re well worth it if you want to invest in a quality pair that is made in Italy. The general consensus is that you can find some pretty similar sneakers for a fraction of the cost – which is true – but I stand by their outstanding quality. I chose to list the mid achilles because of my personal experience with them (a minimalist take on the high top sneaker). They look good with anything, and will honestly last you a while if you take care of them.
