Here’s To You, Dad! 5 Cars Your Dad Will Love

We’ve discussed before about the wonders of having an electric vehicle, but when I spoke to my dad about it, he made it clear: his car will be gas-powered, be mean, be lean, be a speed machine. He’s an old-fashioned guy, after all.

So it got me thinking, if money wasn’t an option, what kind of car would you get your old man?

Getting your dad the car of his dream is any child’s goal, and these cars are the best of the best in terms of functionality and style. Here’s a list of cars you can get your dad so he can fulfill his cool car dreams:

2018 Ford Mustang

Definitely not the most practical car for my 50+ year old dad, but c’mon, it’s a mustang. The Ford Mustang has been an iconic fan favorite for decades, and no self-respecting car buff could keep this away from the top of their dream car list!

The 2018 Ford Mustang has all the bells and whistles of the classic but with a modern twist. It comes as either a coupe or a convertible, and it comes in either a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual engine. For your sake and your dad’s, get him the manual.

Of course, if you really want to get his blood pumping, get him the 5.0L V8. This bad boy clocks in at 460 horsepower with 420 lb/ft of torque. If that won’t get him off your back for sneaking out during high school, nothing will!

Prices start at $25,690 for the coupe, $31,180 for the convertible.

2018 Toyota 4Runner

Rugged, mean-looking, and just oozing out manliness, the Toyota 4runner is the perfect car for the younger dad. The 4runner is perfect for commuting to and from work, dropping off the kids at school, or a short trip trekking in the woods. It comes in either four-wheel or rear-wheel drive and has over 9 inches of ground clearance. For the 2018 4Runner, you can also get the Wilderness Package: a special add-on that tacks on all-weather floor liners and roof rack crossbars for the outdoorsy types. For style points, get the TRD Enhancement Package which adds a bold TRD-stamped front skid plat and 17” matte gray alloy wheels.

2018 Dodge Charger

Stylish, fast, and handsome (much like your old man!), the Dodge Charger manages to merge the functionality of a full-size sedan with the power and fun of a muscle car. The base SXT model comes with a 3.6L V6 that pumps out 292 horsepower and 260 lb/ft of torque, while the premium SRT Hellcat rips the competition with a 6.2L supercharged V8 with a whopping 707 horsepower and 650 lb/ft of torque.

2019 Ram 1500

With its remarkably smooth ride and improved capabilities, the 2019 Ram 1500 is a definite upgrade from its earlier counterparts. This is the perfect pick-up truck for the classic, truck-lovin’ kinda Dad’s out there.

2018 Mazda CX-5

This is for the Dad with sophisticated tastes. The 2018 Mazda CX-5 is a thing of beauty that combines smooth driving dynamics, modern style, and sheer versatility. Out of all the SUV’s you can drive, this might be the most fun. From going around town with Mom, to picking up kids from school, or for going fast down country roads, the Mazda CX-5 does all of it while making you look good.

Don’t Forget The Essentials

From car insurance to windshield repairs, make sure Dad has all the things he needs for his new toy. While it might be tempting to have the old guy check out the car for himself, if he’s advanced in age, get a mechanic to assist him so he doesn’t fall over something. But overall, just make sure your dad gets the car he deserves!
