Traveling is always a good time, but sometimes you have to do it on a budget in order to save money for other things. Nevertheless, this does not mean we shouldn’t be able to enjoy the experience travel offers – along with its many wonders and small bits of knowledge we take away from the overall journey. Hong Kong is a fun, exciting and vibrant location, which attracts a wealth of tourists every year. Having gone in 2015, I loved it – and I wanted to share a few quick things as starting points for your next visit. Free Activities

Let’s begin by taking a look at some of the best free things to do whilst in Hong Kong. Once you have found your cheap flights to Hong Kong, you can then plan your activities, and you can enjoy all of the following without having to spend a penny…

  •   Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens – Admission to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens is always free. Here you will be able to witness over 500 birds and animals, including flamingos, pythons, lemurs, and orangutans. There is also more than 1,000 plant species here.
  •   Avenue of Stars – This is Hong Kong’s equivalent to the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. It is the most visited attraction in Hong Kong and it’s free to enjoy.
  •   Museums – A lot of the museums in Hong Kong offer free entrance on Wednesdays. This includes the Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Space Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum and Hong Kong Racing Museum.
  •   Kung Fu Corner – Kung Fu Corner takes place every Sunday at Kowloon Park between the hours of 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. This is a great option for those visiting Hong Kong with children. Kung Fu Corner is a weekly performance by Chinese martial artists and features traditional kung fu demonstrations.
  •   Temples – There are several astonishing temples in Hong Kong, which are well worth a visit. This includes the Ten Thousand Buddha’s Monastery, Po Lin Monastery, and the Tian Tan Buddha.

Eat on the Cheap

You don’t have to enjoy Hong Kong’s expensive and lavish restaurants to experience delicious and traditional foods. In fact, one of the best ways to get a true taste of Hong Kong when you travel here is to embrace the street food that is on offer, so definitely make sure to purchase from on the food stalls you come across. Moreover, here are some of the best budget restaurants to enjoy in the area…

  •   Under Bridge Spicy Crab – It’s in the name, this restaurant sells crab-based dishes, situated in Causeway Bay
  •   Tung Po – Seafood restaurant in North Point
  •   Tsui Wah – Located all over Hong Kong, selling Hong Kong comfort food
  •   Piggy Grill – The best place for suckling pig, situated in Sham Shui Po
