An Epic Weekend at Rolling Loud

This entire Rolling Loud experience would not have been possible without the support of General Motors Canada and SiriusXM. All opinions expressed are my own.

It’s been a little while since I’ve written an experience post on the blog. As of late, I’m more inclined to share content on Instagram, but I thought this weekend deserved a written piece – with a closer look at the vehicle that got me there, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado High Country.

I also wanted to share this experience for anyone potentially interested in attending Rolling Loud next year – or for anyone curious about seeing what the Silverado High Country offers.

Let’s jump right in!

About Rolling Loud

If you’re not already familiar with the name, Rolling Loud is the largest hip hop festival in the world – and this year it was making a debut in Toronto. As an avid hip hop fan, I knew that attending this festival would be a great experience – even though I don’t attend many festivals.

The weekend featured big names, such as Tory Lanez, Future, Migos, Dave, Lil Uzi Vert, and many more. Despite knowing that I wouldn’t be able to get to see each and every artist, I still decided to catch a few shows – and ended up planning my days around those set times (Dave, Tory Lanes and Future to name a few).

As a first timer, I really enjoyed the energy of the festival! The shows were fun, people were having a good time, and there were many activations to check out.

I’d also consider myself lucky to have gone backstage – thanks to the SiriusXM team. That was something I had never done before, so it was pretty cool seeing an energizing performance from behind the scenes (Central Cee was the artist playing at the time, just before Dave got on)

What an experience!

Getting to the Festival

The festival was located at Ontario Place, which is fairly close to the downtown core, so getting there isn’t too bad. I stayed at the Gladstone Hotel this time around, so it was a short drive down to the venue.

With the above in mind however, my suggestion for anyone looking to drive would be to park a little further out and walk or bike down to the festival. Just a tip to save you a bit of trouble, as it did get quite busy throughout all three days!

To get pumped up for the weekend, I used SiriusXM to tune into music from my favourite artists as I drove around the city. If you’re not already familiar, SiriusXM is the number one destination for ad-free music, podcast, and audio entertainment (you can also download the SXM App from the App Store or Google Play to stream all of SiriusXM’s content).

A Closer Look at the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado High Country

At first, I was a little hesitant having a large truck for the weekend in the city. However, I have been eager to give GM‘s newer releases a try – so this was a chance to get behind the wheel and test out everything the Silverado High Country had to offer, regardless of setting. Needless to say, I was impressed by how enjoyable it was to drive and how comfortable the cabin was.

The vehicle’s exterior design really matches its rugged capability. It’s combination of assertive modern styling, precise details, and gold accents really make it stand out amongst other trucks in its class. I would have loved to take the the truck on a longer adventure and test out it’s outdoor prowess, but perhaps next time! I did prefer to drive it outside of the city however, as I was able to appreciate its features a little more that way (downtown driving was a little crazy this past weekend if I’m being frank).

For a truck its size, I was taken aback by how comfortable and thoughtfully designed the interior was – which really played a big part as to why I enjoyed driving it so much. There’s a lot of utility that the vehicle offers – so there’s plenty to appreciate when it comes to space no matter what you’re using the truck for on any given day.

I also felt very confident behind the wheel; and I imagine any other driver would say the same, despite how daunting the truck’s size might seem at first (the ten-way power drive seating with power lumbar support offers ergonomic comfort and adjustment for drivers of all sizes – and the wheel to wheel assist steps helps anyone get in and out of the Silverado with ease). Another feature worth mentioning is the OnStar and Maps+ – which ensured I was up to speed on real-time traffic updates and ultimately helped me save lots of time during this eventful weekend.

There’s a lot more I could go on about about the Silverado High Country and it’s features, but in the spirit of time, I’ll wrap this up here! I hope you all enjoyed the content. For more up to date and behind the scenes content, follow along @absdulla!

Again, I want to thank General Motors Canada and SiriusXM for their hard work behind the scenes and for making this fun-filled weekend as enjoyable as it was. Be sure to check them out below – and as always, thanks for stopping by and reading. Until next time!
