If you’ve ever been at a concert, or even a really loud place like a construction site, you’ve probably had the issue of ringing ears or irritation – and it definitely doesn’t feel good. This is more common than you think – and it can often lead to acoustic hangovers, causing serious headaches and ultimately hear loss over time. Nobody wants to go through that, and as a matter of fact, you don’t really have to go through it anymore – thanks to our friends at Earos Acoustic.

Simple ear plugs are often the solution, which isn’t a bad idea at all – but they can easily block out the music at concerts or events, hindering your overall enjoyment. I came across the Earos One last year, while the product was still in its kickstarter phase, and I was amazed by the idea. The product “utilizes [a] one-of-a-kind acoustic technology… [that] refines sound, [and reduces] loudness while maintaining the full spectrum of sound frequencies”. I managed to get my hands on a pair not too long ago, and have had the chance to put them to the test in various environments, most recently at the Majid Jordan concert (which was phenomenal, by the way).

And honestly, they’re a life changer.

The only problem is making sure that you don’t lose them. They retail for $40 – but they’re worth every penny, since they’re saving you multiple future visits to the audiologist. They look similar to standard earplugs and have a similar weight, but they’re definitely not your average pair of earplugs – because they also pair well with an app (for Android and iOS), that allows you to check your environment through a 10 second sound test to see if you should be wearing them for the occasion. It’s a very helpful tool that can be a quick solution to preventing acoustic hangovers, since it allows you to save locations and have expectations ahead of time.

Earos was founded by Ronnie Madra, a renowned club owner in New York City, who simply needed a solution to all the hearing problems he encountered from being in  the nightclub scene all the time. He partnered with professionals to create the stylish earpieces in New York, with nothing more than a smart and innovative design. There is no power or circuitry involved – it’s simply the shape and quality of the product that allow it to be as effective as it is. So you don’t ever have to worry about batteries or even charging!

The Earos One is made up of medical grade plastic, combined with acoustic technology to provide the user comfort and protection. They also come with two fittings, a standard size, and a smaller option for those with smaller ears. They do go a little deeper than regular earplugs, but that allows them to sit well in your ears, without the risk of them falling out.

If you’re a constant concert goer, a construction worker or even someone who simply wants the extra preventative protection, the Earos One is a great product that can definitely help you out for many years to come. I’m very excited to see what else the brand comes up with.
