I’m a guy that’s constantly looking for the next exciting scent, and with spring here (well, kind of around the corner because of the weather that we’ve been having lately), it’s time to freshen up your arsenal with something fun and fresh. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a dedicated scent or doesn’t know where to start, I’d suggest taking a trip down to your local department store and trying out a few scents – it’s kind of a fun activity, actually.

When it comes to men’s colognes, I often find myself varying and changing my scent based on how I feel, whatever is readily available or simply due to the corresponding season. It’s also worth mentioning that I really enjoy fresh scented colognes, so that is a slight bias. However, there are a few that I’ve stuck to because of how versatile they tend to be. What I mean by that is you can wear them to work or school for example (in reasonable amounts, no one enjoys too much perfume), and carry them forward to an evening out. Also, you can wear them during any season.

I initially tried Dior Sauvage a while back at Hudson’s Bay, and at the time I was using Pasha du Cartier – my dad’s favourite fragrance that ultimately became of my favourites. I was also cycling between John Varvatos’ Artisan Blu and Armani’s Acqua di Gio, but I really enjoyed the fresh notes of Sauvage so I decided to start wearing it more. I was further introduced to rest of the collection as well, which consisted of an eau du toilette (a lighter version), Dior Homme sport (lighter and cooler, good for after the gym), and a ‘very cool spray’, a quick deoderant like cologne that’s simplified for guys who don’t want to get too involved in perfumes (my least favourite).

I decided to focus this post on the Dior Homme collection because it has really stood out to me in the last while. I’ve naturally kept coming back to Sauvage because I really enjoy the scent, and it helps that I have gotten numerous compliments about it. The unique synthesis of naturally alluring aromas really blend well to create a fun spring essential for any man. Beyond that, the full bodied aroma of the cologne stays on your clothing for a while, so you really don’t need to use much!
