Returning to the Rogers Cup

We’re back here a year later talking about tennis and the Rogers Cup again – and for a reason: it’s a great event that bridges the gap between sport, and fun for everyone. You can choose to attend as a spectator and watch the main events – or get involved and enjoy what the event has to offer in terms of activities, suitable for the whole family!

If you missed it, last year I recapped the Rogers Cup and what it was like being there (in case you wanted to get an idea of what attending the event would be like) – because there really is a lot to do there. And although I didn’t attend the media event this year, Julie went on my behalf to experience some of the events’ offerings – as well as discover a few cool things that are going on this year (you’ll have to go yourself to see this time, you’ll be glad that you did).

This year also marks the second annual partnership between the Rogers Cup and Danone Canada – which reflects shared the commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Beyond the event’s general focus on Tennis, there is a bigger purpose of building a healthier world – for everyone.  In April 2018, Danone Canada became a B Corporation, certified by the nonprofit B Lab for meeting the most rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The Rogers Cup was recently named the Sustainable Sport Event of the Year at the annual Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance PRESTIGE Awards, in recognition of its exceptional environmental and community initiatives.

“Danone Canada is thrilled to return to the Rogers Cup, one of the country’s premier sporting events. Not only does this sponsorship create a unique opportunity to engage consumers and showcase the diversity of our dairy-and plant-based product portfolio, but it also allows us to join forces with a like-minded organization. The Rogers Cup shares our One Planet, One Health vision that the health of people and the planet are connected and interdependent, and together, we can have a tremendous impact,” – Natacha Gouveia, Head of External Communications at Danone Canada

With the above in mind, it’s good to see large sponsors taking more initiative when it comes to social responsibility. It’s also important that there is a bigger focus on nutritional foods being present for guests attending, as well as everyone else involved.

The tournament runs from August 4th until the 12th, so check it out if you haven’t already – it’ll definitely be worth your while!
