Keeping it Simple + Smart for Spring and Summer

We’re finally getting good weather – which means we can start shedding some layers and start putting together simple, yet fun outfits. This doesn’t necessarily mean getting out of your comfort zone. Even though that’s never a bad idea, it does make dressing well easier and more accessible. By that I mean you can take that same t-shirt or polo that you love, and make it stand out by working around it.

As you may already know, I enjoy layering up, and am happy to do so when the weather requires it – however when Toronto gives you good weather, you make the most out of it. That doesn’t mean that we have to completely ditch all the layers; we can still keep some in play, but transition to lighter and more functional garments.

The Look

With this look, I’ve decided to take a standard white polo and work some simple adjustments to make it appear more than it is. Again, I’m just a regular fella who’s taking something that every guy has in his wardrobe and doing more with it – so you too can also do the same! You can even do it with a white t-shirt if this is ‘too fancy’ for you, but you get the idea. It’s a look you can take from work to play, and still feel great while doing so.

The cotton blend blazer (UNIQLO) is a great, breathable choice that you can simply throw on over top of literally anything. It’s a comfortable piece that makes any look more stylish, without much effort. Choosing a versatile colour like grey is a good idea; that way you can wear it with more options!

To complete the look, I paired the upper half with a simple pair of beige chinos, also from UNIQLO – because they’re super comfortable, and look good. I want to also mention that I’ve become a big fan of the brand over the past few years, since they make great quality essentials that are very reasonably priced. And to finish off the look, I accessorized with a leather rope belt (Brave Leather) and wore the classic 574 sneaker (New Balance).

Use this post as a basis to put together simple and tasteful looks that don’t require any effort really. It’ll make you appear like you know what you’re doing, and keep you feeling confident, wherever you go.
