Whenever you are driving you need to be concentrating on the road.  Most road accidents happen because of distracted drivers as it only takes a few seconds of looking the wrong way to cause a crash. There are some things that could make driving more fun because of less stress, while they can still be safe to use.

Phone Mounts

Although it is very unwise to use your mobile phone while driving, it is the way most people access navigational aids.  Having your phone mounted on the dashboard can make it much easier to use this. Sat navs as we know them are no longer used very much as the apps on smartphones work just as well.

USB Charger

If you have to leave the house in a rush and have not charged your phone, having a USB charger in your car could be really useful. This will mean that using your phone for navigation will not run your battery low as you will be able to charge it while you are on the move.

A Roof Rack

With one of the roof racks DIY here, you can strap your cycle to your vehicle and head off anywhere. Driving might be fun, but combined with an exhilarating ride it’s even better.

Dash Cam

A dash cam is best known for determining fault after an accident, but they can also be great for looking through the trip you have just been on. If you passed through some stunning mountains or countryside, your dash cam will have captured some of the views as well.

GPS Tracker

A GPS tracker is often the device parents use to keep track of where their children are, but it can be just as useful in your car. If you have forgotten where you parked it will lead you back to your vehicle and should your car get stolen you will be able to track its whereabouts.

Bluetooth In-Car Speaker

Connect your smartphone to a Bluetooth in-car speaker and you can take calls hands-free, or listen to your favorite playlist of music. They do not take up much space, but the sound quality they provide will make your musical entertainment more enjoyable.

Radar/Laser Detector

No one is condoning exceeding speed limits, as this is the second biggest cause of road accidents in the US. However, if you are on an open road and there is no other traffic in sight it can be tempting to put your foot down more than you should. This little device will let you know if speeds are being monitored by law enforcement, or if there is a policeman up ahead with a speed gun. It will give you enough notice for you to slow down in time to avoid getting a speeding fine. You should be aware though, these are illegal to use in some states.

Portable Jump Starter Kit

If you break down in the middle of nowhere or late at night, it could be that there is no one around to help you jumpstart your car. A jump starter kit will let you get your care restarted and can also be used as a backup power supply.

Whatever gadgets you decide to have in your car, just make sure they do not need you to be constantly doing things to make them work, or your eyes will be off the road.
