Fix Up, Look Sharp: How to Look Your Best in a Suit

Oscar Wilde is reported to have said that the when a tie is well-tied, it is the first serious step in life. And when it comes to men’s fashion, it certainly rings true. There are many things out there telling us what to be wearing or giving different style tips. But wearing a suit has got to be one of the most classy things out there. With suits, though, there is wearing a suit or there is wearing a suit. Some people know just how to pull them off or how to style them to give them a different twist. So with that in mind, there are some style tips for wearing a suit so that you can fix up and look sharp.

If the Jacket Fits…

If you have a suit with an ill-fitting jacket, then there can be nothing worse. When it comes to trying one on and finding the one that is right for you, you should be looking out for a suit jacket that has a collar that fits just below the shirt collar. Plus, the sleeves on the jacket should sit at the wrist, but meet the cuff of the shirt. Then your cufflinks or other wrist accessories can be on display, and it is just a classy look all round.

Accessories

To add a little extra something to your suit, then it is all about the accessories. A tie from somewhere like John Henric shouldn’t be too matchy-matchy with your suit, but be complimentary colors. Suspenders can be a good look if you aren’t going to be wearing the jacket very much, and pocket squares are a really stylish go-to item. So as well as the suit itself, accessories are a must.

Waistcoat Vest

For a really stylish look, having the option of a waistcoat vest is a great idea; it can be a really great addition to the suit. But what you need to think about is making sure that the vest fits well. If it is too large it won’t look good. Likewise, if the vest is too small and can’t be done up, it won’t be a good look either.

Correct Leg Length

There are so many people out there with suits that don’t fit them well. If the suit pants gather around the ankles, then quite frankly, they are too long. Suit pants should touch your shoes, but not cover them. Not only does it look bad if they do, but it can be a trip hazard too. So make sure that you are getting the pants that fit you well in the leg to maximize how sharp you look.

Shoe Style

For the ultimate complete look with a suit, it is important to have all aspects looking good together. It can be easy to just group the dress shoes that you by color. But the style of the shoe is important too, as well as knowing what works best and for what occasions. For instance, Oxford shoes could be worn for pretty much any occasion. Loafers would be for more dressy or even more sporty occasions.
