Maintaining Good Health with One Vital Supplement

Let’s start this off with jumping right to the point. What is that one vital supplement?

Collagen.

If you’re not quite sure what that is – well, the simplest way to put it is that it’s something we all need as human beings. It’s a protein that provides structure to most parts of our body, including our bones, skin, organs, ligaments and tendons. It’s also worth noting the multiple health benefits that collagen offers. It’s essentially the glue that hold everything together in the human body.

What’s more interesting to me is that every year after the age of 25, our bodies become less efficient at producing collagen. Which means as we age, we become more prone to having collagen deficiencies in our bodies.

Despite not being an expert on the subject, modern diets (fast food and such) have stripped away some of the naturally occurring nutrients in many foods, so taking collagen as a supplement is never a bad idea – within reasonable amounts, of course.

If you’re like me – and enjoy exercising often, chances are that as we begin to age, we’ll feel the effects of that exercise in a different way (more soreness, pain, etc). And since we need collagen to nourish our bodies, it’s important that we’re taking collagen as a supplement.

Where do I start?

As someone who takes fitness supplements from time to time, I tend to do some research before I adopt a product into my supplement stack. In the past, I’ve tried whey proteins and other supplements have caused skin breakouts and other minor side effects, so it’s important for me to know what I’m consuming.

I recently came across the Vital Proteins product line, which offers a variety of different collagen infused supplements. I decided that it wouldn’t hurt to give this brand a try – especially since their products are sustainably-sourced, which would hopefully mean a better quality product.

That was a few months ago – and I’m glad to say that the products have been great thus far. There are a variety of products offered, so I’m only confident sharing my experience with the ones I’ve tried:

They’re all great – but I found that the collagen creamers are a little bit difficult to blend well into your coffee if your drink is hot enough. The collagen peptides and marine collagen products are fantastic – and blend very well into smoothies (pretty much tasteless). It’s nice knowing that you can add a little boost to your smoothie without really feeling like it’s there.

We all want to lead healthy lifestyles – and collagen is an important supplement to keep in mind, regardless of your age and how active you are. I know that there are a multitude of products out there that are great – like Vital Proteins. However, if you’re not sure where to start, these are good products to consider.

If you’ve tried Vital Proteins – or any other collagen supplement, let me know what your thoughts are!
