A few years back, I had the opportunity to take the 2018 Honda CRV for a drive – and it was quite enjoyable to say the least. After that experience, I could see why the Honda CRV was popular among so many people and why it had such great ratings across the board. But being the enthusiast that I am, I wanted to give the updated model a go.
And here’s why!
There are a multitude of reasons why I decided to revisit the CRV Sport in 2020 – but to keep this concise: I was looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of this not-so-modest SUV that really caught my attention 2 years ago.
The 2020 model introduces a visually refined update of its predecessor, with the same fuel-efficiency and versatility. I wasn’t surprised at all when I saw how well Honda had designed the interior and exterior – with user-friendly practicality in mind. Having driven the 2019 Acura RDX not too long ago, I found that the 2020 CRV drew some inspiration from its luxury counterpart.
Beyond all the bells and whistles included in the Sport model, I found that it was a very well rounded SUV for longer drives. The comfort of the interior, paired with the small intricate details and touches made road trips feel like a breeze. With that in mind, it’s also worth mentioning that you are getting so much utility with the CRV’s cargo volume and space – which can be extremely useful for those looking to venture out and do more in the outdoors. And that being said, it comes close to being the perfect ride, but I found that the vehicle’s acceleration could have been a tad bit more powerful – however that’s not a deal breaker for someone like myself.
If I was to summarize my experience with the 2020 Honda CRV, I would have to say that it is the epitome of a perfectly-simple SUV that brings about much more than a regular consumer can ask for. Maybe I’m someone who enjoys driving quite a bit, but every moment driving this vehicle was a lot of fun – and I really missed it after all my time spent behind the wheel.
I’m genuinely impressed with Honda’s updates on the CRV. It’s a great looking vehicle that’s suitable for a variety of consumers due to its versatility and reasonable price tag (although slightly more than previous years, the Sport starts at $34,990). So far, I haven’t driven many vehicles this year, but I’m going to go ahead and say that my experience with the 2020 Honda CRV will rank among my top few drives. The bar has been set pretty high by Honda, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing how other SUVs compare to this outstanding ride.
