Lunching at The Thompson Diner

A few weeks back, Julie and I popped into the Thompson Diner to check out their newest menu additions – and since we hadn’t gone there in a while we thought – why not?

If you’re not familiar with the place, it’s a diner-style restaurant that’s located right beside the well known Thompson Hotel. It provides the classic diner experience with modern and refined touches added to most of their dishes. You’ll have an enjoyable experience if you’re looking for decent portions and quality and exciting options.

Our choices at the diner aren’t what everyone would probably choose at this style of restaurant, but we opted for some healthier options.

Pictured above from left to right: Truffle Mac & Cheese (asiago, aged cheddar, toasted bread crumbs, crab), Brown Rice Bowl (poached egg, avocado, kale pesto, radish, pickled shallots, feta cheese, hot sauce), and Huevos Rancheros

We personally enjoyed the updated dishes because there were many more vegetarian options that were done right (Julie is pescetarian). I definitely want to come back again just to try to the rest of their menu. So many great selections!

The Truffle Mac & Cheese is a must try!
Another favourite, the Blackened Cauliflower almond romesco, pickled raisins, caper vinaigrette)
Can’t forget the millenial favourite, the Avocado Toast (country bread, pickled shallots, radish)
No diner experience is complete without a milkshake!
The Cherry Pie was also amazing!
