A Comprehensive Father’s Day Round Up + Gift Ideas for Any Guy in Your Life

It’s time for another last minute Father’s day round up; this time with more details and suggestions -because there’s so much out there that can make a great gift for your hardworking dad or male in your life.

There are various categories for many reasons, a few being that everybody likes something different and there’s always that dad who has everything. I often find myself gifting my dad at random times throughout the year, so Father’s day isn’t the end all of your gifting decisions. These can be considered for any time you feel that gifting is necessary, even if it’s for yourself!

Obviously the suggestions are based off my own experience with the products, so regard them as so. There will definitely be things that don’t fit the bill, so feel free to reach out if nothing here seems to be a good choice for your dad!

Quality Tools and Gear

Leatherman Wave – This guy is an essential for any dad that likes to work with his hands. Heck – even if he doesn’t, this multi-tool is a quality option that can go beyond handyman duties. I love my Leatherman, and I honestly use it for anything from building furniture to random outdoor excursions.

Merrell MQM Flex – Inspired by athletes and made for you or dad, this hybrid packs all the technology needed for Moving Quickly in the Mountains™ into one fast, protective shoe. I discovered Merrell last year when I tested out their Overlook boot – and I was amazed. I recently went hiking around Los Angeles in the MQM Flex (pictured here worn casually), and they provide excellent grip and comfort, perfect for any outdoor trail. And they stand out!

Men’s Care

I didn’t quite specify the products here, because everyone needs different things. But most of the options within the brands below are fantastic, and you can’t really go wrong.

Bulldog Skincare – What better gift than one of personal care? It’s not a bad idea to get your dad into a simple skin care routine, if they’re not already on one. I like Bulldog a lot because of how simple and accessible they are even to even the least knowledgeable of men (when it comes to personal care), and their products are very reasonably priced.

House 99 – Another brand I’ve recently been excited about. David Beckham’s personal care brand has a variety of quality and well-scented products. They’re perfect for the dad that wants to add a bold touch to their skin care and grooming routine.

Wise – I love this brand mostly because of the organic ethos behind their products. The packaging is simple, and their products are naturally scented – but they’ve ended up as one of my favourite brands in the shower. Their shampoo is my absolute favourite.

Martial Vivot – A luxury and high end option that has some really good stuff. They’re a brand based out of New York, and have recently introduced their products into Sephora in Canada. If you feel like balling out on dad with some quality grooming products, I would highly suggest MV, and Kiehl’s below.

Kiehl’s – Almost a no brainer; Kiehl’s makes some of my favourite skin care products. Their products aren’t cheap, but you’re getting the best of best here. Even a few of their niche products might be a right fit for dad; for example, I absolutely loved the facial fuel eye de-puffer – a product I overlooked until I tried it. The perfect fix-me-up for mornings!

Scents

Acqua di Gio Absolu – Acqua di Gio has been one of my favourite scents for the longest time. It’s a timeless, grown-man kind of scent, that’s fresh and versatile. I recently tried Armani’s newest addition to the line, Absolu, and it’s also just as good with a bold refinement. I suggest seeing what your dad is into, but this is usually a foolproof gift for dad.

Dior Homme Sauvage/Sport – I got into Dior’s line of colognes last year and I’ve been obsessed since. They have two options that really stand out to me, Sauvage and Sport. Sauvage is the bolder, fresher option that lasts longer and is really a statement fragrance. The sport is a lighter, and more casual option that’s perfect for the day-to-day use. I’m really satisfied with this line, as I’m sure many other men are!

Pasha du Cartier – This is my dad’s favourite scent, and I’ve picked it up because of him. I reserve its use for more formal occasions because it’s also a statement fragrance. It has a strong and bold finish that screams elegance and refinement. Perfect for any dad in my opinion – it’s special.

Books

How to win friends and influence people – A book that really changed my outlook on many things and really refreshed my views on how to interact with others, mainly through empathy. This is a must read for you, or dad!

The Alchemist – One of my favourites for a few reasons; it’s an adventurous tale revolving around the themes of of listening to our hearts, recognizing opportunity and general wisdom. Pick this up!

Tuesdays with Morrie – Dad will appreciate this read, as it is a humbling story about a final ‘lesson [on] how to live’. I’m sure dad has most of that figured out, but it condenses many key messages of life in a very beautiful and heart warming story. It’s a simple read that will leave you tearing up and smiling.

Fitness

Saucony Ride ISO – Find out your dad’s shoe size if you don’t already know it, because shoes are never a bad gift idea. These runners are one of the most comfortable for casual running. They’re stylish, and provide a good amount of cushioning for longer distances. Check out the Freedom ISO as well, very similar.

New balance 574/S – More of an ‘athleisure’ sneaker, but definitely one of my favourites. The 574 is a classic that never goes out of style, especially for dad. They come in a variety of colours, and make a sweet casual option for almost any look (the sport option is also more streamlined, and looks great). Dad will love these!

Under armour Hovr – One of my go to options for training. Stylish, functional and an overall good quality shoe. Great gym shoes for the fit dad, or if you want to encourage dad to get fit!

Kaizen Naturals – Great natural supplements that are a great gift idea if your dad lifts, or simply wants to get into a better habit of exercising. I find that when I have supplements around, I’m more motivated to exercise because I feel bad just having the supplements lying around for no use. Maybe that’s just me?

Quality Basics and Essentials

Kotn – Another brand with a great ethos, using ethically sourced Egyptian cotton in their products while supporting various projects along the Nile Delta. I love everything about them and their garments speak for themselves. Getting more quality essentials for dad is never a bad idea, and he’ll appreciate everything about Kotn.

Frank and Oak – Thinking of getting dad some simple dressed up essentials? Frank and Oak is a one stop shop for everything dad might need in his closet. They’re not super expensive and they make really good stuff. I’m especially a big fan of their oxfords.

Uniqlo – Two things: quality, good prices. You’ll often overpay for garments at places like Club Monaco and J.Crew (as much as I love them, it’s the truth), but at Uniqlo you get that for a fraction of the cost. There’s a variety of styles and garments that are genuinely simple in nature, but work really well for anyone. Get dad’s sizes for future reference!

Tech

Amazon Echo/Echo Dot – Even for the most non-tech-savvy dads, having an Echo or Echo Dot around the house is fun. It does a lot in terms of convenience, whether it’s music, alarms or even asking it questions about the weather. Talking to Alexa is very interesting and it can even be synced to smart lights and locks around your home if you want to funk it up a bit. Dad will have lots of fun playing around with this intuitive gadget.

Google Home – Similar to the Echo and Echo Dot, the Google Home does just about everything the other two do. As a user of both, I’ve found them all to be equally as useful. However, using the Home is a little easier in terms of music, whereas the Echo shines when it comes to responsiveness. Have your pick, but they’re all great in my opinion – and make great gifts for dad.

Nintendo Switch – Even if you or dad don’t consider yourselves gamers, this is a fun system to carry around or to keep around the house. I’ve been a big Nintendo fan for a while, and it’s super exciting to see what they’ve done with the Switch. It’s finally in stock at most places, so it’s a good idea to grab one if you think dad will enjoy Nintendo’s newest titles. Did you guys see the upcoming releases at E3? Who else is excited?!

Watches

Timex Waterbury Classic 36mm – I’m a big fan of Timex, and have been for a while because they make great watches for great prices. Although they’re not commonly recognized as ‘the best watches’, I’ve had a fantastic experience with every Timex I’ve owned (in terms of reliability), and the costs barely break $200. And you can’t go wrong with a good looking watch like the Waterbury Classic.

Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Powermatic 80 – We’re going up a bit in price range, but Tissot is a good choice when it comes to accessible luxury. Dad will not only appreciate this guy, but it’ll be a watch that he will have around for a long time. It’s a beautiful timepiece that’s also very versatile. Keep this in mind.

Rado DiaMaster Automatic – We’re pushing price a bit here, but you can’t go wrong with a Rado. The quality Swiss watchmaker is well known for it’s heritage timepieces, and the DiaMaster is an exceptional watch. I also really enjoyed the Captain Cook, which is just as beautiful – but obviously, you know your dad a lot better than I do.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Auto – Want a quality diver watch without breaking bank? Then this guy is your go-to. The Khaki Navy is a sporty watch that can be used for any occasion, but excels at being the casual outdoorsy watch. It’s a quality and simple piece that really works for any type of dad!

Did I miss anything? If you still can’t figure out what to get for dad, shoot me a message and I’d be happy to help you find the perfect gift for your dad.

And remember: if your dad doesn’t really like gifts, they will most likely appreciate a phone call or a friendly visit! Don’t underestimate the power of simply spending time with him.
